Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.

Purim

Mordecai (Matthew) telling Ester (Susannah) not tell of her heritage

Last Friday, March 21st, our family had the opportunity to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim with our Meemom and Uncle Jake who were visiting at the time. Purim is the celebration of God's protection over His people during the time of Queen Ester - you can read the whole story in the book of Ester. Hamentosh is the tradition treat for this celebration- a cookie shaped in a triangle (like Haman's hat) with jam in the center. The children dressed up as the main characters - King Xerxes, Queen Ester,Mordecai, the evil guards and Haman - and acted out the story of Purim while dad narrated. It was a joyful night of remembrance, laughter, delicious treats and even a little Hebrew dancing.

The guards plotting to kill the king (Jake & Tim)
Mordecai weeping in the 'streets'
Ester approaches the king (Ethan).......And later accuses Haman (Josiah)
