Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.

Our New Kitten

This past Monday, our neighbor brought us our new eight-week old kitten- just in time for Matthew's birthday. The poor little bundle of fur was so timid, just sitting in her kitty-carrier, too frightened to come out. The children were so excited- we love kittens,- they couldn't wait to play with her. After a day or two she warmed up to our home, playing and wandering all over our "mud room". We tossed about several names for her- Silky, Satin, Lady Jane, Stripey, Estella (from Dickens' book)- Matthew, though, had the final say-so on her name, because of his birthday. He was set on one name:

Mittens

Mittens. I'm still not certain why he chose that name. Our gray striped kitten does not even have white tipped paws. But no matter, on Mittens he was set and Mittens she is... for now anyway. We'll let you know if anything changes.
