Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.

Honoring Our Veterans

The history of World War II and aviation are two of Josiah's interests. He loves to collect personal stories and hear of war veterans' first hand experiences, especially from those who served during WWII. He has met with a handful of these brave men and corresponded with more.

Mr. Bill Brown is one of these veterans whom Josiah has met. Mr. Brown - or "Gan", as he is affectionately called by the children in our church- is a retired Second Lieutenant in the US Army Air Force who served our country during WWII in the Pacific theater, flying missions from Iwo Jima before being shot down by friendly fire, picked up by a submarine, and returning home.

Mr. Bill Brown - the father of one of our church elders, Scott Brown - goes to our church here in North Carolina and has become a very special friend to Josiah. Besides having marvelous stories to share, Mr. Brown is a wonderful influence in my brother's life, exhorting him in the Word and encouraging Josiah to never tire of learning. Mr. Bill Brown is a great man and a godly example to our entire family. Not only did he serve his country in her time of need, but he trusts in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and never tires of encouraging and exhorting others to grow in the grace of God.

What a privilege for us to know this man and to be able to celebrate Memorial Day with him.
