Meet Johnny.
Johnny Chivoski - Elijah's birthday present and the newest member in "Dollhouse Land" (also known as the third-floor bonus room). Johnny is a hand crafted Waldorf doll, about four inches tall, that I made for Elijah using wire; wool; fabric; and a little creativity. My mom and I have enjoyed creating Waldorf-style dolls of all kinds for many years now, ranging in size from full sixteen inch dolls with changeable outfits to two inch dollhouse babies. They take some effort to make, but we love working on these dolls, they are so enjoyable to create and it is satisfying to watch the children play with something made especially for them. The children still play with the first Waldorf dollhouse doll that mom made me when I was no older than eight. Though that doll has certainly seen better days, little "Rosie" (as she's called), is not in too bad a shape.
Dollhouse play has always been a favorite in our home; we older ones loved it when we were little and and the current little ones enjoy it as well. I'm glad, because anything miniature appeals to me and crafting these dolls is more fun than frustrating. Our young ones gave me a whole list of dollhouse 'people' they want me to make, complete with names for each. It seems that I'll be busy for a while! At least I won't need to think to hard of what to make when birthdays and Christmas roll around.
