Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.

Snowy Sunday

We stayed home from church today as we were all snowed in!

The snow began falling on Friday night and into Saturday morning. All this weekend, the children have had a ball sledding, making snow-angels, having snowball fights, and eating snow (which the writer of this post considers yucky). Even Daddy made it outside to throw snowballs with and at his big boys, while dear Mamma made hot chocolate for the shivering children who came in from the cold.

An ice storm and possible power outage was predicted, but so far our light and heat still work. Nonetheless, we're very glad for our wonderful wood burning stove and the wonderful boys who were busy all through the year chopping and preparing firewood.

As I wrote the above lines, I wondered if there might be any verses I could share on this Sabbath day. I found a verse in Job which talks about the greatness of the Lord that seemed appropriate to share on a snowy, wintry day. Job 37:5-7 says,

"God thunders marvelously with His voice;
He does great things which we cannot comprehend.

For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’;
Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength.

He seals the hand of every man,
That all men may know His work."

May you be blessed on this Sabbath.

This is the first snow that Jenna Beth has been out in- it was too chilly when she was a newborn!
