Happy New Year 2009!
This past year, 2008, has been a very different year for us, filled with trials, tests, growth, lessons, and blessings. We still await the greatest blessing of all – a new baby. This has been a year filled with examples of God’s faithfulness to us. We have experienced growth in our church, our family, and our personal lives. The Lord is good. On the morning of January 1, 2009, our dad read to us a scripture that has held great meaning to our family. The passage is Psalm 118, excerpts of which I have posted below.
With January now upon us, we would ask our fellow believers to pray for us in this coming year, pray that we would glorify the Lord with our lives. It is also our prayer for our friends and family, that you might truly experience the Lord’s faithfulness and blessing in 2009.
The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you...
Numbers 6:24, 25
~
Psalm 118: 8, 9, 16, 17, 18, 21, & 29
It is better to trust in the Lord
than to put confidence in man.
It is better to trust in the Lord
than to put confidence in princes…
The right hand of the Lord is exalted;
The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
I shall not die, but live,
And declare the works of the Lord.
The Lord has chastened me severely.
But He has not given me over to death…
I will praise You.
For You have answered me,
And have become my salvation…
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.”
Note: Though these are the main verses that have spoken to our family, I would strongly encourage that you pick up your Bible and read the entire Psalm. You can also read the Psalm by clicking here.
