Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.

Day 4 - Valley Forge

Our friend Patrick with Ethan, Tim, and Jake

Meemom and Jake drove up to spend the Valley Forge part of our tour with us. Valley Forge was a beautiful place - it must be an incredible place to visit in the autumn, just as the leaves have turned. It was overcast and chilly when we visited. This became a blessing for us as the shuttle buses we thought would transport us around the long and winding path stopped giving rides after Labor Day - only three days before we arrived! So, we made it a walking tour instead and the adventurous few who stuck to it till the end walked approximately three miles of the hilly path - tired, warm, and glad not to have the sun beating down upon us! Along the way we saw reconstructions of the small log cabins where the soldiers lived. They might have been 12' x 6' - that is only a guess. But whatever the dimensions, they were not large and the sign read that nine men lived in one cabin.

Along the path we also saw some cannons (replicas, I believe); "Mad" Anthony Wayne's statue; and Washington's office. It was a long three miles to walk - and we pushed the double stroller the whole way - but everyone was glad they went.
