Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.

Day 5 - Liberty or Death

A visit to Richmond, Va.'s St. John's Church was our last stop of Friday evening's tour. Here we enjoyed a wonderful reenactment of the Virginia Convention where Patrick Henry gave his famous Liberty or Death speech. It was one of the best reenactments many of us had ever seen.

Elijah, especially, got very into the entire thing. In his introduction to the reenactment, one of the reenactors called a vote to begin the Convention.
"All in favor, say 'Aye'."
"Aye," everyone called.
"All opposed,"
"No!" Elijah's voice rang out loud and clear.
"Well," continued the amused gentleman, "We'll ring it in anyway. The 'ayes' have it."

Every time after that a vote was carried, all eyes turned toward Elijah. Fortunately he didn't cast any more votes.

I only have two photos from the evening - taken by a friend on my camera, actually. The lighting was pretty dim, and frankly, I was simply too tired to take anymore pictures! Hopefully, though, even with their poor lighting quality, you can get an idea of how pretty the church was.

Hooray! Only one more day to journal with our never ending tour posts!
